In a noteworthy development, the British High Commission has praised the Ogun State government for its robust pursuit of industrial growth, establishing the state as a prime business destination in Nigeria.
Deputy British High Commissioner, Mr. Jonny Baxter, expressed commendation during a visit to the Office of the Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele.
Baxter emphasized that the substantial industrial presence in Ogun State underscores Governor Dapo Abiodun’s dedication to positioning the state as Nigeria’s industrial hub.
The British envoy conveyed the Commission’s eagerness to collaborate, fostering stronger economic and trade ties.
Recognizing Ogun’s pivotal role in Nigeria’s industrial landscape and its diverse economic opportunities, the British Envoy pledged support for collaborative efforts with the state government, particularly in industrialization and agriculture.
He highlighted the global need for strategic measures and advocated partnering with the government on agricultural initiatives for economic stability and food security.
Deputy Governor Salako-Oyedele assured the British High Commission of the government’s commitment to maintaining a conducive business environment, facilitating the growth of existing businesses and welcoming new ventures.
She emphasized Governor Abiodun’s vision for a business-friendly environment since the inception of his administration.
Salako-Oyedele underscored the judicious utilization of the state’s expansive arable land, allocating twenty thousand hectares for rice and maize production to enhance food security.
She also affirmed ongoing engagements with industry stakeholders, such as the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), to ensure ease of doing business while addressing challenges associated with industrialization, including migration, infrastructure deficit, and insecurity.
The meeting was attended by key figures including Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor, Dr. Toyin Taiwo; Commissioners for Industry, Trade and Investment, Mr. Adebola Sofela; Transportation, Engr. Gbenga Dairo; Agriculture, Mr. Bolu Owootomo; and the Director-General, Bureau of Public Procurement, Mr. Dapo Oduwole.
