IMBIL Telecom Solutions Ltd has entered into a commercial agreement with Airtel Nigeria to accelerate the rollout of Mobile Virtual Network Operators in the country, as the firm confirmed it has already onboarded five operators.
The company, which describes itself as Nigeria’s pioneer Mobile Virtual Network Enabler/Aggregator, said the partnership signals a major boost to competition and innovation in the telecommunications sector.
In a statement issued on Monday in Lagos, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of IMBIL Telecom, Akeem Ogunkoya, said the agreement provides a strong infrastructure base for emerging operators to enter the market.
He noted that the firm had not only integrated five MVNOs but also had several others at advanced stages of onboarding, with plans to commence operations in the coming months.
Ogunkoya said, “Our partnership with Airtel Nigeria provides a solid foundation for MVNOs to thrive, leveraging world-class infrastructure and scalable technology. We are excited about the strong pipeline of operators preparing to enter the market.”
He added that the company’s platform was designed to lower entry barriers for new telecom players by providing end-to-end services, including core network infrastructure, billing, provisioning and regulatory support.
The IMBIL boss also commended the Nigerian Communications Commission for creating an enabling regulatory framework for MVNO operations, noting that its policies had encouraged innovation and fair competition in the industry.
According to him, the growing demand for affordable and customer-focused telecom services makes the MVNO model increasingly attractive, particularly for startups and enterprises seeking to tap into Nigeria’s digital economy.
He said the collaboration with Airtel Nigeria would help expand network reach, deepen digital inclusion and unlock new opportunities across underserved segments of the market.
Industry analysts say the entry of more MVNOs is expected to intensify competition among service providers, potentially leading to improved service quality and pricing for consumers.
IMBIL Telecom said it would continue to provide scalable technology and operational support to enable new entrants to focus on customer acquisition and service innovation, while it manages backend infrastructure.
