Buhari To Tinubu: I am Proud Of You

Former President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed pride in his association with President Bola Tinubu, describing him as a key figure in Nigeria’s democratic and political landscape.

In a statement issued by his media aide, Garba Shehu, on Saturday, Buhari celebrated Tinubu as he marked his 73rd birthday, emphasizing his contributions to Nigeria’s political development.

Buhari acknowledged Tinubu’s instrumental role in the formation and success of the All Progressives Congress (APC), which led to his own presidency for two terms.

He stated that the country’s historical records would be incomplete without acknowledging Tinubu’s efforts as an entrepreneur, party stalwart, and political strategist.

“No doubt, the annals of the country will not be complete without bringing into mention, and a recognition of the varied and numerous roles of President Tinubu as an entrepreneur, a party stalwart, a staunch activist, party organiser, party builder, a reliable ally, and a serial winner of democratic elections. I am truly proud of my association with the Asiwaju,” Buhari said.

The former president also reaffirmed his confidence in the Tinubu administration, stating that the APC’s vision for a better Nigeria remains on course under his leadership.

“When Nigerians handed the baton of leadership to the APC in 2015, it was a mandate to lay the foundation for a new Nigeria where the poor get opportunities for a better future, and I am glad that the vision is not lost.

It was a victory of all those who wish the country’s good,” he added.

The birthday message comes amid ongoing political developments within the APC, including the recent defection of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir el-Rufai, to the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

El-Rufai had accused the APC leadership of deviating from its founding principles and claimed he had consulted Buhari before making the move.

In response, Buhari reiterated his commitment to the APC, distancing himself from el-Rufai’s claims and affirming his allegiance to the ruling party.
