Edo Queens started their campaign in the CAF Women’s Champions League with a commanding 3-0 win over fellow debutants Commercial Bank FC of Ethiopia at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca on Sunday evening.

Emem Essien, Folashade Ijamilusi and Chukwuamaka Osigwe were on target for Edo Queens in the game.

Ijamilusi set up Essien for the opening goal after five minutes.

CBE tried getting back into the game, but Queens’ high pressing kept them at bay.

Edo Queens doubled their lead nine minutes after the break with Ijamilusi sending the ball into the roof of the net after a good combination with Esther Moses.

The match was eventually put beyond the reach of the Ethiopians 10 minutes from time when substitute Osigwe scored the third goal.

Moses Aduku’s side top Group B with three points albeit on goal difference with FC Masar of Egypt, who defeated holders Mamelodi Sundowns in second position.
