128 travelers making their way from Abuja to destinations in the North enjoyed a 50% discount on their transport fares, as per the Federal Ministry of Transportation’s Situation Room Monitoring Team.
The discount initiative was set in motion following a directive from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, with drivers on inter-state routes diligently implementing the instructed reduction.
A press release signed by the Director of Press and Public Relations, Ministry of Transportation, Olujimi Oyetomi, highlighted the success of the endeavor.
The statement emphasized, “As ALBON co-opts NURTW, implementing 50% discount on transport fares at yuletide gets a boost, 128 Nigerians enjoy Tinubu’s Renewed Hope discount on Christmas Day.”
Implementing the president’s directive, the Situation Room Monitoring Team closely monitored the process. A total of 128 travelers bound for destinations in the North, such as Gombe, Bauchi, Yola, and Maiduguri, were transported to their destinations, paying only half of the usual transport fares.
The statement also acknowledged the proactive efforts of the Association of Luxury Bus Owners (ALBON) and their collaboration with the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).
This collaboration ensured that passengers promptly received a 50% refund of their fare payments upon boarding designated vehicles, turning the President’s transport palliative into a tangible reality.
Clement Okuefuna oversaw the disbursement of reimbursements at the Area 1 motor park in Abuja, where the last 16-seater passenger bus heading for Bauchi and Maiduguri successfully concluded the operation, refunding half of the transport fares to the passengers
