Colleagues who laughed at me now copying my sound – Singer CKay
Singer CKay has taken a swipe at some of his colleagues, whom he claimed mocked him when he started his own version of Afrobeats but were now copying his style.
The ‘Love Nwantiti’ hitmaker claimed he pioneered many vibes Afrobeats artistes thrive off today.
He recalled starting the trend of promoting Afrobeats songs on TikTok and how he was mocked. He said many of his colleagues who mocked him back then are now doing the same thing.
On his X handle, the singer wrote: “history can’t be rewritten just because some people got paid to rewrite it…i’ll always be here to remind you.
“CKay is the first. I pioneered many vibes Afrobeats artistes thrive off today…iykyk. Y’all laughed when I came up with emo-afrobeat and was on TikTok all day but many are now doing the same thing, calling it ridiculous names (& making $$). you’re welcome sha.”
