The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) strongly criticizes the armed invasion of Dangote Industries Limited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in connection to the ongoing forex allocation probe involving 52 firms.
MAN, through its Director-General, Segun Ajayi-Kadir, expressed shock over the invasion, emphasizing that while they support due investigations, it should be conducted appropriately, without the observed aggression.
Ajayi-Kadir questioned the wisdom behind a forceful approach, stating, “Is it that the company refused to respond to a request to present those documents?” MAN urged for a more civil and circumspect approach, highlighting concerns that the incident may deter potential investors.
MAN advised government agencies, including the EFCC, to exercise restraint and consider the broader impact of their actions on the delicate business environment. It called for clarification from the EFCC to address negative perceptions and reassure both existing businesses and potential investors.
Dangote Industries Limited responded, asserting that no accusations of wrongdoing have been made against any firm within its Group, emphasizing cooperation with the EFCC’s request for information in the ongoing investigation.
