Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Alhaji Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, is billed to deliver the keynote lecture at the 2025 National Reunion Conference of the Obafemi Awolowo University Muslim Graduates’ Association (UNIFEMGA), slated for Saturday, May 10, 2025.

Themed “Cross Border Trade and Security Implications on the Nigerian Economy: Taking Advantage of Global Trade Dynamics,” the lecture will hold at the historic Oduduwa Hall, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State.

According to a joint statement by the Chairman of the Planning Committee, Prof. Sirajudeen Obayopo, and the association’s Public Relations Officer, Ibrahim Fagbenro, the event is expected to be a convergence of intellectuals, policymakers, and stakeholders in commerce and development.

Adeniyi, an alumnus of OAU, is expected to share insights on the evolving landscape of global trade, regional integration, and Nigeria’s border security architecture.

The three-day conference will run from Friday, May 9 to Sunday, May 11, 2025, featuring a variety of events including the UNIFEMGA Investors’ Forum, which is modelled after the popular Dragons’ Den television show, allowing entrepreneurs to pitch business ideas to potential investors.

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, will serve as the Special Guest of Honour, while the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, is expected as the Royal Father of the Day.

Other dignitaries expected at the reunion include Dr. Muritadha Adeyemi Adeniji, MD/CEO of Starling Global and Ideal Limited, who will chair the occasion; and OAU Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Adebayo Simeon Bamire, who will serve as host.

Also billed to attend are legal luminary Prof. Yusuf Olaolu Ali (SAN); Vice-Chancellor of University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Egbewole (SAN); Summit University Offa’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Musa Aibinu; and Prof. Akeem Lasisi of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila Orangun.

The programme will commence with a Jumat service led by Prof. Abubakar Sanusi, followed by a courtesy visit to the OAU Vice-Chancellor and a networking dinner hosted by UNIFEMGA’s Board of Trustees Chairman and Pro-Chancellor of Summit University Offa, Alhaji Rafiu Ebiti.

Highlights of the reunion include a student picnic, scholarship award presentations, an annual general meeting, empowerment programmes, health and fitness activities, and novelty football matches among various branches.

UNIFEMGA National President, Alhaji Mohammed Buari, expressed optimism about the success of the reunion, which coincides with the beginning of his administration. “This year’s gathering will not only be impactful but also memorable,” he said.

Over 300 delegates, including members from the Diaspora, have already confirmed attendance.
