In a bid to reclaim Lagos State from what they describe as a 25-year-old occupation by non-indigenes from other South West states, De Renaissance Patriots Foundation held a strategic virtual meeting, hosted by Major General Leo Segun Ajiborisha, former Principal Staff Officer (PSO) to the Head of State during General Abdulsalami Abubakar (Rtd)’s military regime.

The meeting, convened on Sunday, March 24th, 2024, saw the attendance of prominent members of the steering committee, including Major General Tajudeen Olanrewaju (Rtd), Alternate Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BOT), Prince Adelani Adeniji-Adele, President of the Foundation, and Mr. Yomi Tokosi, Secretary General, among others.

General Ajiborisha, expressing his commitment to the cause, emphasized the need to reclaim Lagos State for its indigenous people, citing their wealth of human and capital resources.

He criticized the practice of recruiting non-indigenes to govern the state, labeling it as an abuse of process and hospitality.

He highlighted instances of perceived injustice, including the sidelining of Lagos indigenes in political leadership roles and the questionable representation of the state in national assemblies.

He urged fellow indigenes to support the Foundation’s efforts in restoring meritocracy and reclaiming their heritage.

Major General Olanrewaju reiterated the Foundation’s stance on political representation, emphasizing the need for political parties to nominate only Lagos State indigenes as candidates. He affirmed the Foundation’s determination to uphold this principle, regardless of opposition.

Prince Adeniji-Adele echoed the sentiments of the group, stressing the importance of demanding respect for Lagos indigenes and their rights. He affirmed the group’s commitment to its objectives despite any challenges or criticisms.

The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of the Foundation’s dedication to its goals and plans for the future, as outlined by President Adeniji-Adele.
