The traditional ruler of Ewu-Urhobo Kingdom in Ughelli South LGA, His Royal Majesty, Clement Oghenerukevwe Ikolo, Urhukpe 1, found himself at the center of a high-profile investigation as he was declared wanted by the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) in connection with the murder of 17 military personnel in Okwuama, Ughelli South LGA.

In a dramatic turn of events, the monarch voluntarily surrendered to the Delta police command on Thursday.

However, instead of facing local authorities, he was swiftly transported to Abuja for further interrogation.

Escorted by the Commanding Officer of the 63 Brigade Nigeria Army Asaba, the Delta State Police Commissioner, and other senior military officers, His Royal Majesty was flown from the Asaba International Airport to Abuja aboard Air Peace Airline.

The plane departed Asaba Airport at approximately 9:10 am, marking the monarch’s journey to the nation’s capital.

The Defence Headquarters had listed the monarch and seven other individuals as persons of interest in the investigation into the killing of the military personnel.

Despite his protestations of innocence, His Royal Majesty released a statement to reporters expressing shock at being implicated in the crime.

The unfolding saga underscores the gravity of the situation and the determination of authorities to apprehend those responsible for the heinous act.
