Destruction Looms as Abiodun Targets Conference Hotel in Fierce Showdown Over ‘Illegal Extension’

In a shocking turn of events, Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State is gearing up for a high-stakes showdown as he contemplates bulldozing the Abeokuta Conference Hotel, embroiled in controversy over an alleged “illegal extension.”

Following the recent partial demolition of the N1 billion DAKTEM Plaza owned by Olufunke Daniel, wife of former Governor  Daniel, tensions have escalated.

PLATFORM TIMES has exclusively learned that just three days after this dramatic demolition, another storm is brewing.

An impeccable source has revealed that, even as the dust from the DAKTEM Plaza demolition in Ijebu-Ode has yet to settle, the state government is making moves to take down certain structures within the conference hotel.

Notably, the Abeokuta Conference Hotel had remained locked and untouched during Senator Ibikunle Amosun’s eight-year administration but was subsequently opened shortly after his departure from office.

In 2019, it was inaugurated with great fanfare by former Vice President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo and Governor Dapo Abiodun.

The political rivalry between Abiodun and  Daniel has taken a fiery turn ahead of the 2027 elections, further intensifying the situation.

Our attempts to secure official comments from the government regarding the alleged plans to demolish Daniel’s hotel were fruitless, as neither party was available for a statement.

However, a reliable source has disclosed that the government is finalizing a plan to issue Daniel a stern ultimatum to remove the contentious extension.

Failure to comply may force the government’s hand, repeating the same drastic measure witnessed at DAKTEM Plaza.

While Governor Abiodun has vehemently denied any political motivations behind the demolition of DAKTEM, public sentiment suggests otherwise, with many attributing his actions to political maneuvering.

It is widely believed that Gbenga Daniel’s alleged interference during the last election contributed to Abiodun’s loss in seven out of nine local government areas in his senatorial district, Ogun East.

Senator Gbenga Daniel, who currently chairs the Senate Committee on Naval, has vehemently denied the allegations and challenged Abiodun’s camp to provide evidence supporting their claims.

As tensions rise and the battle lines are drawn, the political feud between Senator  Daniel and Governor Dapo Abiodun shows no signs of abating.

The question on everyone’s mind: Who will blink first? Only time will reveal the outcome of this high-stakes power struggle.
