The Southern Kaduna Peoples’ Union (SOKAPU) has condemned the abduction of the District Head of Garu Kurama and six other members of the Gurzan Kurama community in Kauru Local Government area of Kaduna State on Friday night.

A statement issued by the Forum’s Public Relations Officer, Josiah Yusuf Abraks gave the names of those abducted as Yakubu Jadi (District Head), Iliya Yakubu, Nehemiah Tanko, Thomas Tanko, Yakubu Jadi’s daughter and the Catholic Catechist of the community.

SOKAPU described the incident as unfortunate, alarming and worrisome.

According to the statement, “SOKAPU is calling on security agencies and relevant authorities to put in their very best of endeavour to ensure the quick and safe release of the district head Mr Yakubu Jadi and those five others.”

The Forum also called on government at all levels to do more in protection of lives and properties.

The Forum equally called on communities to be more vigilant and watch out for unusual faces and movements in their environs, advising that they should report such to appropriate authorities.
