The Abeokuta South Division of the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Ogun State Branch, recently conducted a transformative one-day training session at Ogun Montessori Nursery and Primary School, Idi Aba, Abeokuta in a bid to nurture a generation of compassionate leaders.

Dubbed the “Junior Red Cross Training” (JRC), the event drew enthusiastic participation from twenty-three pupils aged between 6 and 10.

Under the guidance of five dedicated trainers led by Divisional Coordinator Mr. G.O. Oyelami, the young participants engaged in a series of dynamic activities from 8am to 1:30pm at Victoroti College, Olokuta.

The training curriculum was meticulously designed to instill essential life skills. Participants were immersed in interactive sessions covering JRC ethos, personal hygiene essentials, road safety protocols, parade drills, and physical fitness routines.

The practical approach included lectures, hands-on demonstrations, and engaging exercises, ensuring a comprehensive learning experience.

Feedback from both trainers and participants underscored the resounding success of the initiative.

The young minds displayed remarkable enthusiasm and a keen grasp of the knowledge imparted, demonstrating tangible improvements in their understanding and practical abilities across all training modules.

Looking ahead, the Red Cross team remains steadfast in their commitment to nurturing and developing these budding humanitarians.

By equipping them early with crucial skills and values, the initiative not only prepares them for future challenges but also fosters a sense of responsibility and empathy within the community.

This impactful training not only enriches the lives of the young participants but also sets a commendable precedent for youth empowerment and community engagement initiatives across Abeokuta South.
