Arsenal legend, Ian Wright, has said he was baffled by Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag’s tactical decision to substitute captain Bruno Fernandes during their Premier League defeat to Brighton at the weekend.
Recall that Brighton defeated Man United 2-1 in the Premier League.
Goals from Danny Welbeck and Joao Pedro gave the hosts the victory over the Red Devils.
During the encounter, Ten Hag decided to substitute Fernandes in the latter stages and replaced the Portugal midfielder with Scott McTominay.
“A lot of things happened in that game that I just couldn’t understand or see happening,” Wright said on the Wrighty’s House podcast.
“Like I can’t understand why he took Bruno off and went so defensive. Why are you taking him off?
“When he [Bruno Fernandes] ran off, he was actually smiling and laughing. He was like, “what the f***? I can’t believe this guy.”
