Chuba Akpom made history as the fourth Ajax player to score three or more goals in an European game after netting a hat-trick in the 4-1 demolition of Polish club, Jagiellonia Bialystok on Thursday night.

The Nigerian-born striker joined Mohammed Kudus in 2023 (3), Sébastien Haller in 2021 (4) and Luis Suárez in 2009 on the list.

Akpom opened the scoring for Ajax in the ninth minute following a brilliant solo run.

The former Middlesbrough star scored his second of the game a minute after the hour mark pouncing on a loose ball from inside the box.

He completed his hat-trick nine minutes later from the penalty spot.

Ajax will host Jagiellonia in the second leg next week Thursday.
