A video forwarded several times on WhatsApp and other media claims that huge amount of dollars was recovered from the former CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele’s house by EFCC.

The claim is FALSE,
VERIFICATION
The video currently being shared showed two men in an undisclosed area counting an unknown amount of cash in dollars inside a building.
Subjecting elements in the video to a Google image search, the first result was linked to an allegation in the build up to the presidential primaries in 2022.
Further findings led to a Twitter source which posted the video in 2019. It added a caption that it was cash found in Omar al-Bashir’s home.
When keywords such as ‘cash found in Omar al-Bashir’s home’ was added to one of the frames of the video, it appeared published on a news website in 2019 linking to al-Bashir.
Omar al-Bashir was deposed as the President of Sudan by the military in 2019 after months of protests.
On the 20th of April, 2019, BBC news reported that a large hoard of cash was found at the home of Sudan’s ousted president Omar al-Bashir and was investigated for money laundering.
Security services found euros, dollars and Sudanese pounds totalling more than $130m (£100m).
There has been no statement from the EFCC claim recovery though the ex-CBN governor is under probe.
CONCLUSION
Emefiele’s Probe began in 2023, the video being shared has been in circulation since 2019 and not even related to Nigeria. It can be concluded that the claim that video shows money recovered by EFCC in Emefiele’s house is FALSE.
