In a shocking turn of events, Nnajiofor Nweke, a father from Delta State, has been taken into custody by the Delta State Police Command following an incident that led to the tragic death of a teacher at Alihami Secondary School in Agbor, Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State.
The heart-wrenching incident took place on October 18, 2023, when a disciplinary action against the suspect’s son, who was accused of stealing palm wine, escalated into a deadly confrontation.
According to DSP Bright Edafe, the spokesperson for the Delta State Police Command, the suspect’s son, along with several other students, allegedly pilfered two kegs of palm wine from a local shop.
The shop owner promptly reported the theft to the school authorities, who identified the students involved and imposed a punitive measure, including corporal punishment.
It was upon learning of the disciplinary actions taken against his child that the suspect, armed with a cane, visited the school and began to assault the teachers in a fit of rage.
Tragically, one of the teachers succumbed to the assault and lost their life.
The incident has sent shockwaves throughout the community and has raised concerns about the consequences of such extreme actions in response to disciplinary measures.
Nnajiofor Nweke is currently detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) as the investigation into this suspected case of murder unfolds.
