In a recent crackdown by the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, 14 individuals have been arrested and charged for spreading false information about the disappearance of their genitals, which triggered a series of mob actions in the nation’s capital.
The FCT Commissioner of Police, Haruna Garba, revealed these developments during a press briefing on Tuesday, highlighting the successful efforts of the police in curbing crime across the FCT in recent weeks.
The cases primarily emerged in areas like Garshi, Gwagwalada, and Kwali, resulting in violent mob reactions.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported in these incidents. Upon medical evaluation, it was determined that the alleged victims’ male organs were intact and fully functional, dispelling the false claims.
CP Garba commented, “The FCT Police Command dealt with over 10 cases involving alleged male organ disappearance, accompanied by a surge in mob violence by angry youths. Police intervention was crucial in preventing potential loss of life and property while restoring law and order.”
He continued, “Fourteen suspects, who had falsely reported the disappearance of their male organs, were examined by medical professionals, confirming the integrity and functionality of their organs.
Consequently, they have been charged with providing false information and inciting public disturbances.”
CP Garba said, “The FCT Police Command has recorded over 10 cases of alleged disappearance of male organs across the territory and the escalating incidents of mob action by irate youths.
“Fourteen suspects who claimed that their male organs had disappeared were taken to the hospital where the medical doctor confirmed that their organs were intact and active.
“I wish to seize this opportunity to appeal to the residents of FCT to warn their wards and children to desist from raising false alarm.”
CP Garba concluded by urging FCT residents to caution their children against raising false alarms and to avoid resorting to vigilante justice, emphasizing the potential harm to innocent lives during such incidents
