The Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has expressed his shock and grief over the death of his commissioner for Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Resettlement (RRR), Ibrahim Garba, who died in his sleep on Saturday in Maiduguri.

The governor’s spokesman, Isa Gusau, confirmed the sad news in a statement he shared on the ‘Governor of Borno’s Facebook page.

According to Gusau, the state commissioner of police was at the house where Ibrahim died in his guest house, and has commenced an urgent investigation into the cause of death.

In his words, the governor received the news with intense shock and profound grief, and prayed for the repose of the soul of the deceased.

Ibrahim Garba was the governor’s Special Adviser on Special Projects before he was appointed as the commissioner of RRR at the beginning of Zulum’s second term.

He also served as the Special Adviser on Projects Monitoring.

He was a young and energetic commissioner who was passionate about rebuilding and restoring Borno State after years of insurgency.

Some sources said that Ibrahim died from a heart related ailment, while others said that he was poisoned.

The police have not released any official statement on the matter yet.

The governor has condoled with the family and friends of Ibrahim Garba, and described him as a loyal and dedicated public servant who will be greatly missed.
