A socio-political organization, the Kaduna Central Integrity Group (KCIG), has criticized Governor Uba Sani for his alleged media attacks on Senator Lawal Adamu Usman, the representative of Kaduna Central Senatorial District.
The group expressed disappointment in the Governor’s actions, particularly given what it described as the lack of meaningful impact from his administration since taking office on May 29, 2023.
KCIG, in a statement issued on Wednesday, questioned the credibility of Governor Sani’s attacks, claiming that the Governor’s administration had “failed woefully” to improve the lives of the people of Kaduna.
They stated it was laughable for Governor Sani to accuse Senator Usman of non-performance, considering Usman’s “unprecedented achievements” in the less than two years he had served in the Senate.
The group expressed disbelief that a government, plagued by ongoing crises, would seek to deflect attention from its own shortcomings by attacking a senator who, according to KCIG, has brought significant relief to his constituents.
The organization further accused Governor Sani of hiding behind a faceless group, the Kaduna Good Governance Monitoring Group (KGGMG), to
undermine Senator Usman’s credibility.
KCIG also took issue with Governor Sani’s own record as a former senator, arguing that his tenure had been marked by a lack of tangible accomplishments.
They compared this to the achievements of Senator Usman, whom they claim has made substantial progress in areas such as education, infrastructure, youth and women empowerment.
The group listed numerous initiatives championed by Usman, including the disbursement of over N500 million to empower youths and women in his constituency.
The Senator also contributed significantly to the education sector, providing bursaries and tuition fee assistance to hundreds of students.
The group expressed frustration with Governor Sani’s leadership, claiming that rather than focusing on the affairs of the state, he has spent more time in Abuja, living in hotel suites and allegedly neglecting his duties as Governor.
According to KCIG, Sani’s lack of presence in the state and failure to convene a State Executive Council meeting since taking office paints a picture of poor governance.
“Governor Uba Sani cannot boast of any achievements, whether as a Senator or as the current Governor of Kaduna State,” said Mallam Mohammed Kaulawa-Chikun, President of the KCIG.
“It is clear that he is driven by jealousy of Senator Usman’s progress, and his attacks are an attempt to divert attention from his own inadequacies.”
The group lamented that Governor Sani’s performance as Governor had fallen far below the expectations of the people of Kaduna.
They also called on the citizens of the state to be more discerning when casting their votes in the 2027 gubernatorial election, suggesting that the current leadership had failed them.
KCIG concluded by urging Governor Sani to provide a record of his achievements during his tenure as a senator, challenging him to prove his worth to the people of Kaduna State.
They expressed hope that the people of the state would choose wisely in the future, avoiding the mistake of re-electing what they termed a “non-performing” governor.
