President, Bola Tinubu has been urhed  to consider nominating a minister from Ogun Central Senatorial District of Ogun state .

A group known as  Ogun State Integrity Group stated this   in a press release on Wednesday.

The group canvassed the slot from Ogun State for the  nomination of a minister from Ogun Central Senatorial district.

The group in the statement signed by Wale Coker said the  move would ensure balance in the distribution of political positions within the state.

Highlighting the current political landscape in the  State, the  Group pointed out that the Governorship position is held by Prince Dapo Abiodun from Ogun East, while the Deputy Governorship position is occupied by Noimot Salako-Oyedele from Ogun West.

According to the group, Ogun Central boasts  of the largest voting population at 56%, but, is noticeably absent from these executive positions.

Supporting  the  plea for a Ministerial nomination from Ogun Central, the group presented a historical overview of political positions held by each senatorial district in the state.

The overview shows that from 2003 to 2011, Ogun East had  held the Governorship position, while Ogun West had held the position of  the Deputy Governorship.

The group said Ogun Central was only settled with a Minister.

“Similarly, from 2011 to 2019, Ogun East held Ministerial and Deputy Governor positions, while Ogun West had the Chief of Staff role, Ogun Central finally held the Governorship during this period.

“In the most recent term from 2019 to 2023, Ogun East once again held the Governorship, Ogun West had the Deputy Governorship, and Ogun Central was represented by a Minister.

“Looking ahead to the upcoming term from 2023 to 2027, the Ogun State Integrity Group expressed concern that Ogun Central is set to be excluded from any executive position.”

“The group  argued that this would disrupt the state’s political setup and go against the principles of fairness and justice, which President Bola Tinubu is known to uphold.

“The group emphasized that Ogun Central has numerous highly qualified individuals who have contributed significantly to the APC and President Tinubu’s success in previous elections.

“Furthermore, the group pointed out that Ogun State demonstrated its political sophistication during the last Governorship election, highlighting the need for careful consideration of the Ministerial nomination.

“The group  urged President Tinubu to recognize the importance of justice and equity in maintaining the support and trust of the leaders and stakeholders of Ogun Central.”
