Gunmen have abducted a senior driver with Dangote Cement Company, Ibese, Usman Umar, popularly known as Baba Olowo, in Ajibawo village, near Ijako-Orile, Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The incident occurred around midnight on Wednesday when the victim was returning from work and was reportedly attacked in front of his residence.
According to information gathered by PLATFORM TIMES, about three armed men ambushed Umar shortly after he alighted from a motorcycle.
The kidnappers were said to have dragged him into a nearby bush while firing shots sporadically into the air to scare residents and prevent them from intervening.
Sources familiar with the incident said the abductors did not arrive in a vehicle, but fled with the victim on foot through the bush.
Umar, a senior driver at Dangote Cement Company, Ibese, was reportedly returning from work when he was seized.
The incident has heightened concerns over the security situation in parts of Yewa North, an area that has witnessed cases of kidnapping and other criminal activities.
A rescue operation has reportedly commenced, with security operatives making efforts to locate the victim and apprehend the perpetrators.
As of the time of filing this report, the whereabouts of Umar remained unknown, while details of possible ransom demands or communication from the abductors were not immediately available.
The latest incident is expected to renew calls for strengthened security patrols and intelligence-led operations in communities around Ijako-Orile and other vulnerable areas of Yewa North.
Authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the abduction.
