How I , Two Classmates Killed Lecturer: Shocking Confession Of 14-Year-Old Student

In a spine-chilling revelation, a 14-year-old Junior Secondary School 2 student, Joy Afekafe, has unveiled the horrifying details of how she and two of her classmates orchestrated the murder of Dr. Funmilola Adefolalu, a respected lecturer in the Department of Biochemistry at the School of Life Sciences, Federal University of Technology, Minna, Niger State.

The shocking incident transpired on October 28, 2023, and has sent shockwaves throughout the community.

Joy Afekafe made her chilling confession during an interview with reporters at the Bosso Police Station under the Niger State Police Command in Minna on Tuesday.

Afekafe, a student at Day Secondary School, Gidan Kuka, identified her co-conspirators as Walex and Smart. She revealed the sinister motive behind the murder, explaining that it stemmed from Dr. Adefolalu’s decision to expel her from her residence due to her unruly behaviour.

In an even more shocking revelation, Afekafe disclosed that Dr. Adefolalu had initially taken her in with a promise to sponsor her education but rescinded the offer after enduring her persistent misbehavior over the three weeks she resided with her.

The violent attack began with a sinister plan as Walex asserted that leaving Dr. Adefolalu alive was too risky, fearing that she would report them to the police.

Afekafe stated, “It was Walex who said that she would recognize us if we left her alive. So they started stabbing her with the knife we brought.

I then struggled with the knife with them, which made Smart enter her kitchen and take a knife there, and they continued stabbing her. They stabbed her in her stomach, her hands, her legs, and she was just shouting Jesus, Jesus.”

Following the brutal assault, the assailants seized Dr. Adefolalu’s phone, laptop, and car battery before making a hasty escape from the crime scene on a motorcycle.

Abiodun Wasiu, the spokesman for the Niger State Police Command, disclosed that the police are actively pursuing Walex and Smart, who remain at large.

As a Deputy Superintendent of Police, Wasiu confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, and the case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further inquiry and prosecution.

The heinous crime committed by these three students has left the community in shock, raising questions about the factors that led to such a brutal act.

As the investigation unfolds, the tragic incident serves as a grim reminder of the importance of addressing the underlying issues that may contribute to such acts of violence among youth.
