A mother of two, Blessing Oghwoghwo, has reportedly died after a violent confrontation with her husband, identified simply as Favor, in Okirigbagha community, Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State.
The incident, which reportedly occurred on Wednesday, has thrown residents of the community into shock, with the suspect said to have fled the area shortly after the incident.
According to reports, trouble started after Favor allegedly approached his wife, who reportedly made a living by selling food, and pleaded with her over an undisclosed matter.
The plea was said to have been rejected, leading to an argument that reportedly escalated into a physical confrontation.
The husband allegedly attacked Oghwoghwo during the altercation, with reports claiming that she was strangled and died from the attack.
After allegedly realising that his wife had died, the suspect reportedly fled the community, leaving behind their two sons, aged three and five.
Residents were said to have launched efforts to locate the suspect following the incident.
The development has raised concerns among residents over domestic violence and the need for early intervention in marital disputes before they escalate into fatal confrontations.
When contacted for confirmation, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, had yet to respond to inquiries as of the time of filing this report.
The circumstances surrounding the woman’s death remain subject to police investigation, while the whereabouts of the alleged suspect were unknown as of press time.
