The Niger State chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Haliru Zakari Jikantoro has unexpectedly resigned from his position following a meeting with the State Working Committee at the APC Secretariat in Minna.
Despite not providing a reason for his resignation, he emphasized the importance of an emergency meeting to brief the state executive on the matter.
During the meeting, he voluntarily and humbly announced his decision to step down as the party’s chairman.
He said, “It is necessary and compulsory for me to call an emergency meeting to brief the state executive on the resolution of what transpired yesterday in the meeting.
“Secondly, I, on my own, humbly and voluntarily wish to resign my position as the chairman of the party, the APC, in Niger State.
“This is the reason why I have decided to invite the media to come and cover this meeting.”
