The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) emphasized the crucial need for enlightening the management and staff of the Lagos judiciary on anti-corruption laws to foster better collaboration.

During a courtesy visit to the Chief Judge of Lagos State, Hon. Justice Kazeem Alogba, Mr. Kabir Elelu, the ICPC Lagos Resident Anti-Corruption Commissioner, commended the judiciary’s innovative steps, including the establishment of anti-corruption courts and expedited actions on filed matters for assignment and trial dates.

Mr. Elelu underscored the importance of enlightening judiciary staff on anti-corruption laws, punishments, workplace best practices, and the promotion of integrity, accountability, and transparency in public service.

He also highlighted the significance of educating staff on signing search warrants and the necessity of obtaining satiation from officers before executing official duties.

Responding to these concerns, Chief Judge Alogba acknowledged the need for staff sensitization, emphasizing that addressing issues such as bribery within the staff ranks is a priority.

He assured that the judiciary’s management is diligently working to hold perpetrators accountable.

The meeting, attended by other judges including Hon. Justice Oyindamola Ogala and Hon. Justice A.M. Lawal, as well as the Chief Registrar and other management staff of the Lagos State judiciary, marks a collaborative effort to uphold integrity and combat corruption within the judicial system.
