    Ikala Set for Grand Celebration as 2024 Woye Ikala Day Holds December 31

    The serene community of Ikala in Ijebu-Imusin, Ogun State, is set to witness a spectacular celebration as preparations for the 2024 Woye Ikala Day gather momentum.

    Slated for December 31, the event promises to blend cultural revival with impactful community development projects, leaving an indelible mark on the town and its citizens.

    According to a statement by the Chairman of the Planning Committee, Mr. Akin Okudero, the citizens, both at home and abroad, are committing themselves to ensuring the success of the landmark event, which has been described as a celebration with a difference.

    In addition to celebrating the community’s rich cultural heritage, the event will serve as a platform to advance critical development initiatives.

    Among the highlights is the completion of the Ikala Town Hall, a project estimated at ₦150 million.

    Other initiatives include empowerment schemes for indigent students and artisans, as well as support for the elderly in the community.

    “This year’s celebration is not just about festivities; it is a call to action for every Ikala indigene to contribute to the growth and development of our beloved community,” Mr. Okudero noted.

    The three-day event will feature a series of engaging activities, including sports competitions, cultural displays, and religious ceremonies. Highlights of the celebration include:

    December 30

    4:00 PM: Football Competition

    4:30 PM: Citizens’ Rally at Ijebu-Imusin

    December 31

    6:30 AM – 7:00 AM: Prayer Session at Otunba Woye Ikala’s Domain

    7:00 AM – 8:30 AM: Woro Dance

    Cultural Displays and Games

    12:00 PM: Ikala Day Celebration and Launching of Development Fund

    10:00 PM – 12:00 Midnight: Cross-Over Night

    12:00 Midnight: Youth Carnival

    January 1, 2025

    9:00 AM: New Year Thanksgiving Service at St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Ikala

    Distinguished personalities and government officials from Ogun State and across Nigeria are expected to attend the celebration, lending their support to the community’s developmental aspirations.

    Ikala, known for its cultural vibrancy and illustrious sons and daughters, has contributed significantly to the development of the Western Region and Nigeria.

    The Woye Ikala Day is expected to not only showcase this rich heritage but also inspire the younger generation to uphold the community’s legacy of excellence.

    As the countdown begins, the people of Ikala are upbeat, ready to deliver a celebration that blends tradition, unity, and progress.
