The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the arrest of 27 individuals for impersonation in the ongoing 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), reaffirming its zero-tolerance stance on malpractice.
The board, in a statement signed by its spokesperson, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, on Friday, disclosed that the suspects had been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force for immediate prosecution.
“These impostors were apprehended during the ongoing UTME across various centres. We remain committed to preserving the integrity of the examination process,” the statement read.
In a separate move to uphold examination standards, JAMB also delisted four Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres over what it described as their failure to meet the board’s “stringent technical requirements.”

While commending 883 other centres for what it called “exceptional performance,” JAMB issued a stern warning that any centre, regardless of ownership, that falls short of technical or ethical benchmarks would face similar sanctions.
Candidates previously scheduled to take their examinations at the delisted centres have been advised to reprint their examination notification slips to reflect new centres and dates.
“We regret any inconvenience this may cause, but no excuse will be accepted from candidates who fail to obtain their updated schedules,” the board stated.
Providing an update on the conduct of the 2025 UTME, JAMB said over 900,000 of the 2,083,600 registered candidates have successfully completed their examinations as of Friday, April 25.
Meanwhile, the board also addressed a controversy at Caleb University, Lagos, where some hijab-wearing candidates were reportedly restricted from entering the examination centre.
JAMB clarified that the issue stemmed from the unilateral actions of an overzealous security personnel and had since been resolved.
“We extend our sincere apologies to the affected candidates. The Vice-Chancellor of Caleb University has condemned the action, and prompt measures have been taken to ensure such does not recur,” the board stated.
JAMB reiterated its commitment to conducting a fair and credible examination while assuring the public of its resolve to tackle infractions decisively.
