The Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) has killed 70 Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists in the Lake Chad Basin.
PLATFORM TIMES reports that the action is part of the ongoing Operation Lake Sanity 2, aimed at eradicating terrorism from the region.
The chief spokesperson of the MNJTF,Lt. Col. Abubakar Abdullahi disclosed this on Monday .
The MNJTF, through intensified aerial operations, has obliterated terrorist camps located on islets across the Cameroonian and Nigerian territories of Lake Chad.
These airstrikes have not only eliminated a significant number of terrorists but also forced others to retreat into Chad.
The destruction extended to eight vehicle-borne Improvised Explosive Devices (VBIEDs) in Arinna Ciki and two ammunition bunkers northeast of Malam Fatori.
The Chadian Rapid Intervention Force played a crucial role in this operation. Responding swiftly to the retreating terrorists, they neutralized 70 combatants and dismantled five terrorist camps.
This action underscores the effectiveness of the MNJTF’s operational strategies and the robust collaboration with the Chadian Armed Forces.
He emphasised the significance of these achievements in a recent statement.
He highlighted the cooperation with the Chadian Armed Forces and acknowledged the vital contributions from other troop-contributing countries.
These include Operation Emergence 4 Cameroon, Operation Hadin Kai Nigeria, and Sector 4 Niger, all instrumental in the success of Operation Lake Sanity 2.
“The MNJTF remains committed to its mandate of eradicating terrorism and restoring peace to the Lake Chad Basin,” Lt. Col. Abdullahi stated. “We will continue to work tirelessly with our partners to achieve and sustain this critical goal.”
