Kano Gov Reinstates Official Dismissed For Disparaging Remarks Against VP Shettima

In a surprising move, Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has reinstated Yusuf Imam (Ogan Boye), who was previously dismissed for making reckless comments against Vice President Kashim Shettima.

Imam, who served as the Special Adviser for Youth and Sport, was sacked last September along with Commissioner Adamu Aliyu, who had issued death threats to judges of the state’s governorship electoral petition tribunal.

The government clarified that the views expressed by both officials did not reflect the official stance of the state government under Governor Yusuf.

Eight months later, both individuals have been reappointed to their former positions. While Aliyu was reinstated in March, Imam’s recall came in April.

The governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature, announced Imam’s reinstatement on Tuesday, along with the approval of appointments for additional special advisers and heads of government agencies.

Among the new appointees are Ibrahim Barde as Special Adviser on Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), Abdulhamid Danladi as Special Adviser on Diaspora, and Bello Kiru as Special Adviser on Water Resources.

Nura Shanono, previously serving as Special Adviser on Water Resources, has been appointed as the Managing Director of Water Resources Engineering and Construction Agency (WRECA), while Baba Umar has transitioned to the role of Executive Secretary of the Private and Voluntary Institutions Management Board.

Furthermore, Nasir Muhammad has been appointed as Director General of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), and Aminu Bako will serve as Deputy Managing Director of the Kano Agricultural and Rural Development Authority (KNARDA). Mukhtar Yusuf has been named Deputy Managing Director of the Water Resources Engineering and Construction Agency (WRECA).
