The Kano State Video Censorship Board has taken a strict stance against Abdul Saheer, a renowned Kannywood actor popularly known as Malam Ali Kwana Casain, by imposing a two-year ban due to allegations of disseminating explicit content on social media.

Chairman Abba El-Mustapha announced the decision during a press conference held in Kano, citing the actor’s purported sharing of pornographic materials on various social media platforms.

The board extended an invitation to Saheer for a chance to defend himself against these allegations, but the actor declined, prompting the Board to take definitive action.

El-Mustapha expressed disappointment in Saheer’s refusal to appear before the commission, labeling it as an affront to the people of Kano State and a challenge to the region’s cultural values.

The board not only imposed the ban but also urged filmmakers to abstain from casting Saheer in their productions during this period. Additionally, they requested media outlets to refrain from interviewing or covering any film industry-related matters concerning the actor.

Moreover, El-Mustapha urged filmmakers who have already featured Saheer in their projects but are yet to release them to submit these films for evaluation within the next two weeks. Failure to comply within this timeframe could result in severe consequences.

The decision marks a significant step in the board’s efforts to maintain the cultural and moral standards within Kano State’s film industry.

The ban on Saheer, a prominent figure in Kannywood and social media platforms like TikTok, is a stern warning against the dissemination of explicit content, reinforcing the commitment to upholding the region’s core values.
