Seventy-two hours after their election, Kebbi State Governor, Dr Nasir Idris has inaugurated 21 Local Government Chairmen and Councillors in the State.

The new Chairmen, Vice Chairmen and their Councilors were elected into their respective offices during the local government elections held on Saturday, August 31, 2024, across Kebbi State.

Speaking after the swearing-in ceremony, at the Presidential Lodge in Birnin Kebbi on Monday, Governor Idris charged them to be transparent to their people at the grassroots level.

While urging them to operate an open-door policy in the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities, the governor advised the chairmen to incorporate the vice chairmen and councillors in running the affairs of their respective councils.

He said that as servants of the people, they should do everything possible to bring the people close to them while advising them to strive hard to work for the betterment of generality.

“Today, we are making another history, because the election was held in all the 21 LGAs and APC as a party emerged victorious at all levels.

“As I earlier said, if goodwill and track records will speak, APC will win all the elective positions in this LGA elections,” he said.

The governor noted with satisfaction that the election was conducted fairly, freely, and peacefully, devoid of any rancho or any breach of peace.

The oath of office was administered by the Chief Judge of Kebbi State, Justice Umar Abubakar.

Earlier, Yakubu Bala-Tafida, the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, described the governor as a man of honour and honesty, who dedicated himself to the welfare of his people.

The SSG, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Office, Nasiru Kigo, said it was the efforts of the governor that led to today’s occasion.

He lauded the APC State Chairman, Abubakar Kana-Zuru, his subordinates and other stakeholders, who according to him, played key roles towards the success of the party at polls.

A statement on Monday by Ahmed Idris, Chief Press Secretary to Kebbi State Governor
said the governor released new Hilux vehicles to the new chairmen to facilitate their official engagements.
