Local government areas in Lagos received a total of ₦165.75bn as net statutory allocation from the Federation Account Allocation Committee in the first quarter of 2026, with Alimosho Local Government emerging as the highest beneficiary.
Data sourced from Statisense, citing figures from the National Bureau of Statistics, showed that Alimosho LGA received ₦10.7bn within the three-month period, maintaining its position as the largest recipient among the 20 councils in the state.
Ajeromi/Ifelodun and Kosofe LGAs followed with ₦9.0bn and ₦8.9bn respectively, while Mushin, Oshodi/Isolo, and Ojo LGAs each recorded allocations of ₦8.8bn.
Further breakdown indicated that Ikorodu received ₦8.6bn, while Surulere and Agege got ₦8.5bn and ₦8.4bn respectively. Ifako/Ijaiye was allocated ₦8.3bn, with Somolu receiving ₦8.2bn.
Mid-tier allocations showed Ikeja, Amuwo-Odofin, and Lagos Mainland each received ₦7.9bn, while Eti-Osa got ₦7.95bn. Badagry recorded ₦7.8bn, followed by Apapa with ₦7.7bn.
Lagos Island and Epe LGAs received ₦7.6bn each, while Ibeju-Lekki had the lowest allocation at ₦7.4bn during the period under review.
The distribution reflects a relatively narrow gap among most LGAs, except for Alimosho, which stands significantly ahead, likely due to its large population and expansive landmass.
Analysts say the allocations underscore the fiscal importance of federal disbursements to grassroots governance, particularly amid growing calls for increased financial autonomy for local governments across Nigeria.
They added that efficient utilisation of the funds remains critical to addressing infrastructure deficits, primary healthcare delivery, and basic education at the local level.
The FAAC disbursement is a monthly statutory allocation shared among the three tiers of government from federally generated revenue, including oil receipts, taxes, and other sources.
