In a heartwarming video released on Tuesday, renowned Nigerian Fuji musician Alhaji Kollington Ayinla expressed his gratitude from his hospital bed at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja.

The 74-year-old, who had been hospitalized for over a week, shared a 3:13 seconds video acknowledging God, the hospital management, and others for his improved health.

Kollington, born in August 1949, had faced a critical health condition, necessitating oxygen support during his stay at LASUTH.

In the video, he revealed that his situation was dire, expressing profound gratitude to the dedicated health workers and medical practitioners who played a pivotal role in saving his life.

Addressing the public, Kollington affirmed his recovery, dispelling rumors of his demise.

He extended appreciation to LASUTH under the leadership of Adetokunbo O. Fabamwo, emphasizing the crucial role played by the medical team in his survival.

The veteran musician took a moment to acknowledge the support from Lagosians, Governor Olusola Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and the Chief of Staff.

He also expressed gratitude to those who visited him and the broader Nigerian community for their well-wishes.

Kollington Ayinla, also known as Baba Alatika, Kebe-n-Kwara, and Baba Alagbado, hails from Ilota, Kwara State.

A dominant figure in the Fuji music scene, he, along with his late friend and competitor Ayinde Barrister, significantly contributed to popularizing the genre.

Despite past rivalry, both musicians stood united in 1983 at the funeral of Apala star Haruna Ishola. Ayinde Barrister passed away on December 16, 2010, marking the end of an era in Nigerian Fuji music.
