Mother, Daughter Assault Lagos Airport Worker Over Borrowed Pen

A  29-year-old passenger, Ayemobola Mojadesola, and her mother have reportedly assaulted an airport staff member over a borrowed pen.

Sources at the airport disclosed that the incident began as a minor disagreement when the aviation worker requested the return of her pen, which had been borrowed by Mojadesola but could not be found.

PLATFORM TIMES gathered that the  argument quickly escalated, leading to both Mojadesola and her mother attacking the worker, causing injuries to her face, particularly near her eye socket.

The airport’s Aviation Security (AVSEC) officers reportedly intervened and arrested the duo, subsequently handing them over to the police.

During the fracas, Mojadesola and her mother were also accused of destroying two laptops.

Michael Achimugu, the spokesperson for the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), confirmed the incident on his social media platform on Saturday.

He urged passengers to avoid unruly behavior and to report any issues to NCAA officers instead of resorting to violence.

Achimugu explained, “Because she was asked to return a borrowed pen, a passenger named Ayemobola Mojadesola (born 1995) and her mother attacked an airport official, causing facial injuries and destroying two laptops in the process.”

He further noted that Mojadesola had to purchase replacement laptops and provided N50,000 for the medical treatment of the injured staff member. “I must reiterate that unruly behavior and destruction of airport equipment will not be tolerated,” Achimugu stated.

Following the incident, the airline off loaded Mojadesola for her disruptive behavior, and she was taken by AVSEC to Tango City before being handed over to the Nigeria Police Force.

Achimugu emphasized the role of aviation equipment and staff in ensuring safe and secure travel, stating, “They are not punching bags. I urge aggravated passengers to always seek the assistance of the NCAA Consumer Protection Officers at the terminals. They are there to help you.”
