    New CDHR Leadership Elected At  2023 AGC: Debo Adeniran Takes Helm As National President

    In a landmark event held at the Michael Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies in Ilorin, Kwara State, human rights activist Comrade Debo Adeniran has been elected as the new National President of the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR).

     

    The election took place during the 2023 Annual General Conference (AGC) of the CDHR, which spanned from Friday, October 27, to Saturday, October 28.

    Comrade Adeniran’s election as the National President marks a significant moment in the CDHR’s history as it seeks to continue its unwavering commitment to championing human rights causes in Nigeria.

    The AGC was attended by CDHR members and delegates from across the country who came together to exercise their democratic right to elect new leadership. Comrade Yinka Folarin also emerged as the national Vice President of the CDHR in a momentous display of unity and dedication to the organization’s mission.

    The newly elected executive members, including Comrade Kabiru Ibrahim as the Secretary and Comrade Ejike Nwaakoro as the Assistant General Secretary, are poised to steer the ship of the CDHR for the next two years.

    The positions of Treasurer, Legal Adviser, Publicity Secretary, and others were also filled during the event, ensuring a strong and well-rounded leadership team to address the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

    Notably, Comr. Folarin Yinka, the newly elected Vice President, received heartwarming felicitations from the Ogun State Branch of the CDHR. This outpouring of support follows initial concerns and opposition against his candidacy, making his victory even more significant.

    The election of this new national executive heralds a new era for the CDHR, reaffirming its dedication to the defense of human rights and the pursuit of justice in Nigeria. 

    The organization’s continued efforts in advocating for human rights and addressing pressing issues in the country will undoubtedly benefit from the vision and leadership of its newly elected officials.

    Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security Trains and Empowers 120 Poultry Farmers in Kogi, Ogun and Oyo States

    The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security has trained and empowered smallholders 120 Poultry farmers in Kogi, Ogun and Oyo States on Poultry production with a major focus on Broilers production as a sustainable livelihood way of making and earning incoming. The major participants were youths and women drawn from across all the Senatorial districts of Kogi, Ogun and Oyo States.  

    While declaring the training open the Permanent Secretary Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security Dr. Ernest Umakhihe represented by the Southwest Regional Director Mrs Abimbola Akeredolu said “ the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security is committed to promoting and facilitating policies aimed at making Nigeria self sufficient in food production’. Akeredolu also said the training and empowerment is to expose to the smallholders farming to the profitability of broilers production as a commercial business to earn a sustained living’

    In welcoming the participants Dr Deola Lordbanjou, a Director in the Federal Departtment of Agricultural Extension Services advised the participants to take advantage of smallholders poultry production enterprise which is highly profitable and can give farmers a flow of steady income.

    The 120 participants trained in two locations; Abeokuta for Ogun and Oyo States and Lokoja for Kogi State were exposed to modern technologies of broilers production.

    Each participant was given day old chicks and feeds to raise them especially for the upcoming season. A participant at the training Bunmi Olatunde was full of praise and commendation for the valuable training and empowerment opportunity given to them by the Ministry.

    He said “we are very grateful for this training which has indeed exposed us further to the modern technologies of broilers production and also for the production support which is targeted towards festive season of December”    

    Present at the training to give words of encouragement to the participants are the State Coordinators of Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security in Oyo, Ogun and Kogi States, Dr Florence Kakulu, Dr Funmi Ayo-Ajayi and Mr Shekamang Ayuba, Programme Manager, Ogun State Agricultural Development Programmme, Mrs Solape  Awe, the Director of Extension, Oyo State Ministry of Agriculture, Mr Rasaq, and  Programme Manager, Kogi State Agricultural Development Programmme, Mr George Bello
