The Nigerian Army has dismissed Lance Corporal Abdullahi Ismail after he was found guilty of engaging in sexual relations with a colleague’s wife.
The dismissal, which took place at the 231 Battalion in Biu, Borno State.
This incident follows closely on the heels of the Nigerian Army’s dismissal of two soldiers for stealing armored cables from the Dangote Refinery in Lagos.
According to multiple sources within the army, Ismail’s dismissal comes as a result of his illicit affair with the wife of a fellow soldier.
One source expressed satisfaction with the army’s decision, stating, “We’re happy as this will serve as an example to others involved in this act now common in our barracks.”
Another source lamented the incident, confirming that Ismail’s dismissal was due to his inappropriate conduct with a colleague’s spouse.
Additionally, it was revealed that Ismail had a history of sexual indiscipline before the incident was reported to army authorities.
PLATFORM TIMES gathered that Ismail’s actions constitute indecent professional misconduct and a breach of Sections 79 and 93 of the Armed Forces Act CAP A20, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
These sections prescribe severe penalties, including imprisonment and dismissal from service with dishonour.
