Borno State government has begun measures to ensure that the playing turf of the El-Kanemi Sports Complex, Maiduguri remains playable.
The stadium is the home ground of NPFL side El-Kanemi Warriors.
According to reports, the pitch has lost its green nature following the hot weather in that part of the state.
The state commissioner for youth and sports, Comrade Sainna Buba, started the process of wetting the ground often before and after games.
“Efforts by the honourable Commissioner for Youth, Sports, and Poverty Alleviation in Borno State, to maintain the grass in the El-Kanemi Sport Complex.” El-Kanemi Warriors wrote on X.
El-Kanemi Warriors are billed to host Akwa United on the same ground for their matchday 13 fixture on Sunday.
