The Nigeria Football Federation has suspended two match officials for poor officiating in the ongoing Nigeria Women Football League, NWFL, Championship in Calabar.
The affected officials are Referee Amamong Idongesit Anthony (Akwa Ibom) and Assistant Referee Blessing Nwika (Rivers).
The officials have been withdrawn from further participation in the tournament.
The decision, which takes immediate effect, comes in light of their actions during the encounter involving Imo Striker Queens and Pelican Stars at the UJ Esuene Stadium on Sunday, September 1st, 2024.
According to the NFF, the performance of both officials was deemed to have brought disrepute to the integrity of refereeing, the NWFL, the championship and the sport.
The NFF pointed out that the body is committed to maintaining high standards of fairness and integrity in all its competitions and will not hesitate to take necessary actions against any form of misconduct by match officials.
