Oba Oluwambe Mofolorunso Reuben Sogaolu has been formally installed as the new Olu of Orile Imo, marking the end of a prolonged Obaship tussle in the Orile Imo, Obafemi/Owode LGA, Ogun State.
The installation ceremony, held at Orile Imo, also saw the presentation of the staff of office to Oba Sogaolu by Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ganiyu Oladunjoye Hamzat.
The Governor congratulated the people of Orile Imo on the installation of their new monarch, highlighting the calibre and potential of Oba Sogaolu to lead the community towards a brighter future.
He urged the residents to support the new Oba in his mission to further develop the town, emphasising the importance of unity and cooperation.
“Your new monarch comes with a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to the welfare of Orile Imo.
“It is crucial for the people to rally behind him to ensure continuous growth and development,” Governor Abiodun stated.
He also commended the Alake and paramount ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, for his guidance and support during the selection process.
Oba Gbadebo, represented by Chief Bode Mustapha, the Osi of Egba, expressed his joy at the appointment of Oba Sogaolu, noting the new monarch’s long standing contributions to the community.
He praised Oba Sogaolu’s efforts in bringing essential services like electricity and other amenities to Orile Imo, which, he said revealed his dedication to the community’s progress even before ascending the throne.
“Oba Sogaolu has always been a forward-thinking leader, committed to the development of Orile Imo.
“ His appointment is a blessing, and I have no doubt he will continue to bring positive change to the community,” Oba Gbadebo said.
In his acceptance speech, Oba Sogaolu expressed gratitude for the support of the community and promised to work tirelessly to elevate Orile Imo to greater heights.
He called for unity among his subjects, urging them to put aside past differences and work together for the community’s advancement.
“I stand here today not just as your new Oba, but as a servant committed to the well-being of Orile Imo.
“ We are already a great community, and together, we will make it even greater. This is a collective effort, and I call on everyone to join hands with me in this noble cause,” Oba Sogaolu declared.
He also appealed to his former competitors for the throne to join him in fostering unity and progress, stressing that the day’s event marked a new chapter for Orile Imo.
“Today’s occasion is a culmination of our shared dream to transform our community into a place of pride. It is not about me but about the collective future of our children and the prosperity of Orile Imo,” he concluded.
The event was graced by numerous dignitaries, including Chief Tokunbo Odebunmi, Chief Yinka Kufile (Aro Egba), Chief Tajudeen Oladeinde (Amona Baroyin of Egbaland), and Amb. Adesina Ogunsola, among others. Representatives of various social, cultural, and youth groups also attended, celebrating the new dawn in Orile Imo under the leadership of Oba Sogaolu.
