The Ogun State Signage and Advertisement Agency (OGSAA) has launched its innovative 2025 mobile e-sticker permit, introducing stringent penalties for non-compliance and fraudulent activities, including a N5 million fine for offenders using fake permits.
The unveiling ceremony, held in Abeokuta on Wednesday, was attended by key stakeholders, franchisees, and members of the press.
Speaking at the event, OGSAA’s General Manager, Fola Onifade, emphasized the agency’s commitment to leveraging technology to eliminate fraud and enhance the efficiency of mobile advert permits.
Highlighting the features of the 2025 e-sticker, Onifade explained that it includes a vehicle icon to specify the type of vehicle, the vehicle’s registration number, and a QR code that provides the owner’s information when scanned.
These advanced security features, he said, aim to curb forgery and ensure seamless compliance in line with global digital trends.
“The 2025 mobile e-sticker is designed to alleviate fraud and forgery while easing stress as the world now revolves around technology,” Onifade said.
He assured stakeholders that the agency had implemented robust measures to apprehend individuals involved in counterfeiting the stickers.
“Let me assure you that all hands are on deck to ensure that you don’t succeed in this act of sabotage,” he said, adding that the agency’s officers would enforce compliance through regular and unannounced inspections.
The OGSAA boss warned that offenders caught with fake stickers would face a fine of N5 million, while those failing to comply with the e-sticker requirements would be penalized with a N100,000 fine.
“In addition to daily enforcement, the agency will carry out unannounced quarterly checks to ensure compliance. Anybody found wanting will face serious sanctions,” Onifade stated.
Onifade noted that Ogun State has joined other states like Lagos and Oyo in transitioning from traditional printed stickers to electronic ones, a move that has significantly reduced counterfeiting and other fraudulent practices.
He also highlighted challenges posed by external agents marketing stickers from other states in Ogun.
“Some states charge as low as N6,500 compared to our rate of N13,500. It would be unfair to allow such discrepancies to undermine our system.
“We are ready to collaborate with states charging similar rates but won’t condone efforts to swindle Ogun State,” he said.
Onifade appealed to companies and partners working with OGSAA to support the initiative and ensure its success.
He expressed optimism that the 2025 mobile e-sticker would revolutionize the registration process for mobile advert permits in Ogun State while enhancing government revenue and curbing illegal practices.
