OGSPAM Egba Zone Leaders Pledge Support For Yaro’s NURTW In Ogun

Leaders in the Egba zone of the Ogun Central Senatorial District of the Ogun State Park Management (OGSPAM) have abandoned Akeem Abodurin, popularly known as Iyeru, in favor of Alhaji Mustapha Adewale Ismaila, the State Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).

The leaders in the Egba zone, led by Alhaji Haruna Adekunjo and Lukman Ajuwon, proceeded to the Secretariat of the NURTW at Asero, Abeokuta, where they pledged their support to the Chairman.

Explaining why they switched allegiance from Iyeru to Yaro, Alhaji Adekunjo and Ajuwon, among others, cited numerous instances of maltreatment while serving under Iyeru’s leadership.

Speaking to journalists, Adekunjo, who served as the Secretary of OGSPAM, stated, “I was the Secretary of OGSPAM until Sunday, March 17, 2024. The sharing formula designated Ogun Central for Alhaji Akeem Bodunrin, Iyeru. They allocated Ogun East and Ogun West for Alhaji Ismail Yaro, the State Chairman of the National Union. But as for me, Alhaji Haruna, when we were briefed at Eleweran, I immediately declared my withdrawal of support for Iyeru due to the numerous challenges I faced there. Also, Alhaji Luqman Ajuwon expressed a similar sentiment. We have now aligned ourselves with the National Union.”

In his remarks, Alhaji Luqman Ajuwon stated, “What we are doing in the so-called OGSPAM is akin to a friendship association. There has been no accountability for the past five years. There is a lack of respect for elders, whereas the National Union operates within legal frameworks. I am glad to return to our rightful place, which operates under rules and regulations.”

Akeem Bankole, also known as Alameda, who previously served as the OGSPAM state treasurer, explained his departure from OGSPAM over a year ago due to the Chairman’s actions. He highlighted issues of favoritism and lack of transparency within OGSPAM.

Alhaji Jimoh Rafiu from Isheri garage voiced his discontent, stating, “We no longer associate with Iyeru; the suffering is unbearable! He and Gadafi exploited us relentlessly. We worked hard to provide for our families. We have now joined the National Union. Enough is enough!”

Sunday Ogunbiye, also known as Agaga from the central, Àgbàdo (Àgbàdo crossing branch), expressed frustration over the lack of benefits received from OGSPAM and emphasized the respect he receives within the National Union.

Additionally, Babatunde Fabiyi shared his decision to join the National Union amid ongoing unrest.
