In a fervent display of commitment to the forthcoming maiden Nigeria Public Relations Week, the Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, has pledged robust support for the event scheduled to take place in Abeokuta from Monday, April 22 to Friday, April 26, 2024.
A statement obtained by the committee stated that the deputy governor expressed her enthusiasm for the decision to hold the week in the State.
The statement further said that Salako-Oyedele emphasized the state’s renowned pedigree for being at the forefront of various endeavors.
She lauded the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led government for repositioning Ogun State as the investment destination of choice, promoting a conducive environment for people to live, work, and play with excellent infrastructure and security.
She said “I am eagerly looking forward to learning how the finances of the country can be enhanced with Reputation Management.”
She urged the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) to ensure the inclusion of the efforts of all iconic indigenes of Ogun State in its compilation of the state’s icons.
The Chairman of the National Planning Committee, Chief Yomi Badejo-Okusanya, sought the Deputy Governor’s support as the Special Guest of Honour at the closing ceremony, which he said will be inaugurated by Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON.
He added that over two thousand Public Relations Practitioners from across Africa and the world are expected to converge at the June 12 Cultural Centre in Abeokuta for the week-long event.
Chief Badejo-Okusanya highlighted the diverse activities planned, including mentoring sessions with tertiary institution students, engagement with traditional rulers, Adire couture showcase, and keynote papers on “Finance and Reputation Management” by the Honourable Minister of Finance Chief Wale Edun and CBN Governor, Mr. Yomi Cardoso.
He disclosed that in addition, breakout sessions, workshops, the Annual General Meeting of NIPR, tours, and dinner will round off the week.
Chief Badejo-Okusanya stated that NIPR is collaborating with hotels in and around Abeokuta to accommodate delegates.
The entourage of Chief Yomi Badejo-Okusanya, including the Ogun State Chairman of NIPR, Mrs. Seun Boye, and the Managing Director of PR Primus, Mr. Akin Okudero, also embarked on advocacy visits to key figures in the state, including the State Head of Service, Mr. Kolawole Fagbohun, the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Chief Oluwasesan Fagbayi, and the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information and Strategy, Alhaji Waheed Adesina.
He said the visits aimed to garner additional support and ensure the success of the event.
