The inaugural Ogun State Employment Conference is set to pave the way for meaningful job opportunities among the state’s young population while effectively bridging the gap between global employment trends and local realities.

Dr. Olu. Ola. Aikulola, the Chairman of the Local Planning Committee for the Ogun State Employment Conference and also the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, made this significant announcement in a press statement released in Abeokuta.

Aikulola described  the  two-day conference as a collaborative effort between the Ogun State Government and the German Government, facilitated by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ).

He said the conference which  was  originally scheduled for the first week of September,  will now be officially inaugurated by the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, alongside other prominent government officials between October 11 and 12, 2023.

He announced that th conference will commence promptly at 9:00 AM at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library in Abeokuta under the theme “Addressing Employment and Job Creation in Ogun State – Tapping into the Global and Local Opportunities.”

According to him, this conference will bring together key stakeholders, including policymakers, international development organizations, private sector networks, and youth representatives.

” It aims to foster discussions and exchange ideas on critical sector-specific issues related to employment and labor markets.

“Additionally, a meticulously planned job fair will follow the employment conference, scheduled for either the first or second week of November.

“This initiative will provide job seekers with a valuable opportunity to engage with potential employers, further enhancing their prospects for meaningful employment.

“The Ogun State Employment Conference promises to be a transformative event, offering a platform for dialogue and action to tackle unemployment challenges and create a brighter future for the state’s youth.”
