A 35-yeqr-old  alleged fake doctor, Afeez Adegoke, has been dragged before the Ota Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ogun state, for endangering patients’ lives in the state.

The suspect, on Tuesday,  was acussed before the court  of two charges: false representation and negligence leading to the endangerment of Mr. Patrick Effiong’s life.

Adegoke, who was residing at No. 6 Eri Antena Bus-Stop, Onibukun Ota, Ogun, has allegedly been performing unprofessional surgeries for patients, putting their lives at risk.

During the court proceeding, the prosecutor, Inspector Bola Owolabi, revealed that the defendant committed the offences in May 2022 at the Goodness Clinic and Medical Centre, situated at No. 6 Eri Antena Bus-Stop, Onibukun Ota, Ogun.

Owolabi alleged that Adegoke irresponsibly and carelessly performed a surgery that jeopardised the patient’s life.

“Adegoke portrayed himself falsely as a medical doctor and conducted operations at the Goodness Clinic and Medical Centre, putting the patient’s life at risk,” stated Owolabi.

The prosecutor emphasised that these actions contravened the laws of Ogun.

Adegoke, however, pleaded not guilty to all charges.

In response, Chief Magistrate Mr. O. L. Oke granted the defendant bail in the amount of N500,000, requiring four sureties who would provide an equal sum.

The case was therefore adjourned until May 25 for further proceedings.
