The Ogun State Government has budgeted a total of N56,038,958,560.71 for the operations of the State House of Assembly over a five-year period, from 2021 to 2025, PLATFORM TIMES investigation has revealed.

The allocation, spread across five annual budgets, covers expenses for the 26-member legislative arm and its associated institutions, including the House of Assembly Service Commission.

While the figures reflect approved budgets, actual implementation remains uncertain due to missing data in the Open State portal, the source of the information.

A breakdown of the figures shows that in 2021, the state budgeted N4,294,721,840.27 for the legislature, including N238,085,914.76 for the House of Assembly Service Commission and N4,056,635,925.51 for the Assembly itself.

In 2022, the budget rose to N7,015,392,326.60, marking an increase of over N2 billion compared to the previous year.

By 2023, amid the nationwide currency scarcity crisis, the allocation further increased to N9,127,808,366.25.

The trend continued upward in 2024, with the Assembly receiving an approved budget of N14,412,074,275.34, a reflection of inflationary pressures and economic shifts in the country.

For 2025, the state has already earmarked N21,188,961,752.25 for the House of Assembly, the highest within the five-year span.
