Ogun LG Poll: Nigerians Will Reject APC’s Recklessness In 2027 – Chief Toyin Amuzu

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Toyin Amuzu, has lambasted the All Progressives Congress (APC) for its handling of Saturday’s local government elections in Ogun State, describing the process as a “complete charade” and an “arbitrary use of power.”

Amuzu, who was the PDP’s candidate for the House of Representatives in the 2023 elections, expressed dismay over reports of violence, intimidation, and manipulation that marred the polls.

He called on Nigerians to reject the APC’s “recklessness and dictatorial tendencies” in the 2027 general elections, arguing that the ruling party lacks the capacity to win in any free and fair contest.

“It is quite disheartening that despite APC’s usual massive rigging and manipulations, they still went ahead to cause violence and chaos, terrorizing innocent citizens and the opposition,” Amuzu said.

The PDP chieftain accused the APC of disregarding democratic principles and prioritizing power over the well-being of the electorate.

He claimed that the ruling party’s actions were a clear indication of its unpopularity among Nigerians.

Amuzu criticized the alleged use of military personnel to disrupt the electoral process, citing an incident where the Minority Leader of the Ogun State House of Assembly was reportedly whisked away in a Gestapo-style operation.

“This act of intimidation underscores APC’s desperation and their inability to win the people’s trust.

Despite their attempts to manipulate the process, the APC still lost woefully in many areas, showing that Nigerians have rejected their leadership,” he stated.

Amuzu urged Nigerians to remain vigilant as the 2027 elections approach, insisting that the PDP offers a better alternative to the APC’s “anti-people policies” and governance style.

He assured that the PDP, with its experience and commitment to people-oriented policies, is well-positioned to address the needs of Nigerians.

“As the 2027 elections draw closer, it is imperative that Nigerians reject the APC’s recklessness and embrace a government that prioritizes their welfare.

The PDP is ready to provide policies and programs that truly serve the people,” he said.

Amuzu’s remarks come amid growing discontent with the APC’s governance, as citizens and opposition figures increasingly call for change in Nigeria’s political landscape.
