In a fervent plea for transparency and accountability, Ogun State’s chapter of The Muslim Congress (TMC) has urged the state government to handle the distribution of the N5 billion palliatives from the Federal Government with utmost honesty and fairness.

Following the removal of the fuel subsidy, the Federal Government allocated N5 billion to each of the 36 states in Nigeria, including Ogun State, to mitigate the resulting economic challenges.

Dr. AbdulRazaq Ogunmoye, the Wali (head) of TMC in Ogun State, has called for a comprehensive review of the distribution strategy to ensure that the intended beneficiaries receive their share.

Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun’s administration has already allocated a portion of the funds for the purchase of rice, with distribution committees established at both state and local government levels.

However, concerns persist regarding the equitable distribution of these vital resources.

Dr. Ogunmoye emphasized the need for the government to reconsider its economic policies, given the hardships faced by citizens, and urged politicians to recognize the moral responsibility of their leadership roles.

He stressed the importance of transparency in the distribution process and suggested more efficient methods to ensure that palliatives reach all Nigerians, regardless of their location.

Furthermore, Dr. Ogunmoye called on individuals to cultivate empathy and compassion, denouncing exploitation and price hikes during times of uncertainty.

The event, which marked the 30th anniversary of TMC, featured a series of lectures aimed at promoting a deeper understanding of faith and fostering a compassionate outlook towards fellow citizens.
