The Ogun State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has commended President Bola  Tinubu for appointing Mr. Olufemi Dokunmu as the Executive Director (Planning and Design) of the Ogun-Osun River Basin Development Authority (OORBDA), Abeokuta.

In a statement jointly signed by the chapter’s Chairman, Mrs. Oluwaseun Boye, and Secretary, Mr. Kunle Olayeni, the professional body described Dokunmu’s appointment as a well-deserved recognition of his expertise, leadership, and commitment to public service.

The statement highlighted Dokunmu’s track record as a seasoned public relations expert and event management consultant, noting that he once served as Chairman of Ogun NIPR and had previously worked with the Ogun-Osun River Basin Development Authority, where he retired after a distinguished career.

“Your appointment is particularly heartwarming, given your rich history with the Ogun-Osun River Basin Development Authority.

Having served meritoriously and retired from the same authority, your return to the organisation is a further validation of your unblemished record of service,” the statement read in part.

The NIPR noted that Dokunmu’s blend of experience and familiarity with the authority would serve as a strong foundation for his success in his new role, particularly in fulfilling the organisation’s mandate in irrigation, water supply, flood control, and environmental conservation.

The statement further praised Dokunmu’s contributions to the growth of Ogun State, emphasizing his commitment to professional excellence and community service.

“Your exemplary leadership and selfless disposition have been instrumental in promoting the growth and advancement of the Institute, and we believe that you will replicate this success, or even surpass it, in your new position.”

The Ogun NIPR also expressed optimism that Dokunmu’s appointment would bring renewed dynamism to the Ogun-Osun River Basin Development Authority and positively impact the lives of residents in the region.

Meanwhile, President Tinubu has approved the reconstitution of the executive management of 12 River Basin Development Authorities under the Federal Ministry of Water Resources.

For the Ogun-Osun River Basin Development Authority, the leadership structure includes Hon. Odebunmi Olusegun as Chairman, Engr. Dr. Adedeji Ashiru as Managing Director, and other key officials, including Dokunmu Olufemi Oyekunle as Executive Director (Planning and Design).

The Ogun NIPR congratulated Dokunmu and wished him success in his new role, expressing confidence in his ability to deliver on the authority’s mandate.

“Our collective prayer is that your tenure shall be marked by progress and prosperity. May you continue to be a shining example of excellence and ideal leadership in our society,” the statement concluded.
