While Oluomo would be inaugurated fourth time as a lawmaker from Ifo 1, Elemide would be taking his third shot at the legislative house .

Oluomo who is battling with allegation of diverting N2.5 billion belonging to the Assembly, is running for the Speaker again is facing a serious challenge to return .

He was said to have stepped on toes of some aggrieved former and current lawmakers and may not return as the Speaker .

But, PLATFORM TIMES established that
Oluomo had got the nod of Governor Dapo Abiodun to return as the Speaker.

Oluomo’s chance of re emergence was said to be slim as Elemide, who a loyalist of the former Governor Olusegun Osoba, had not stepped down for him.

Both Oluomo and Elemide slugged it out during the 9th assembly before Oluomo emerge as the Speaker unopposed during the inauguration on June 10, 2019.

Both of them are from Ogun Central, the region expected to produce the speaker in line with the zoning arrangement.

The Spokesman of the PDP, Akinloye Bankole, said PDP members-elect”cannot, in good conscience support Oluomo as the speaker of the house.”

Bankole said Oluomo who is facing corruption charges lacks moral right to aspire to become the Speaker of the Assembly.

He said “Members elect on the platform of PDP cannot in good conscience support Mr. Oluomo as the speaker of the house. The leadership of our party is currently in consultation with other stakeholders as far as the composition of house leadership is concerned.

“Definitely, we shall act in the best interest of the good people of Ogun State.”
